In Our Time, Erica explores the current state of uncertainty in regards to the future of the environment. In this work seeds have become a visual analogy for ideas of time, growth and renewal in the context of environmental issues. This work mirrors our reflections through the sprouting plants, allowing us to contemplate ourselves within the frame of nature. In her practice, Erica has tested threshold of life by germinating seeds with 4D micro-CT and then visualised the virtual data with a custom designed software Drishti. The viewer is invited to make imaginative leaps between the seminal event of the virtual germinating seeds, the future of the natural environment, and wonder about their place in this vast yet finite cycle of time.
